Polien Boons explores the tension between natural, organic elements and rational, man-made structures. In her drawings and collages, she originally worked around the grid structure as a guiding principle. Lately, she has increasingly been seeking out the contrast between organic and industrial materials. Amongst other things, she works with copper, both as a support for her collages, which stem from etchings, and for an installation in which she explores the material’s intrinsic properties.
