In 2016, S.M.A.K. together with teachers and students of LUCA School of Arts organised a biweekly drawing workshop in the temporary reception centre for asylum seekers, the Ponton Reno in Ghent.

During the workshops, both adults and children reflected on their lives, sometimes hesitantly or incompletely, but always with their own voice.

This trajectory resulted from a series of drawing workshops that S.M.A.K. organised in 2015 and 2016 in the temporary reception centres for refugees in Maximiliaanpark, Sijsele, Holsbeek, Leopoldsburg, Poelkapelle and Koksijde. These drawings have since been compiled in the book Van Hier Tot Daar.

The entire project eventually came to an end with the closure of Ponton Reno, but in the meantime S.M.A.K. and LUCA School of Arts are still organising workshops in the Red Cross Reception Centre for asylum seekers in Eeklo.
