A contemporary survey from Belgium

You are welcome to attend the press meeting of Painting After Painting, the largest painting exhibition in our country in the past 25 years, on Thursday 3 April 2025 at 11:00.

Painting After Painting offers a broad overview of contemporary painting in Belgium and focuses on the work of 73 artists born after 1970. The exhibition aims to celebrate the depth and complexity of the medium painting. Without striving for completeness, S.M.A.K. attempts to outline a multifaceted picture of recent developments and trends within the medium.

Throughout the entire exhibition period, Room 1 will be transformed into the Atelier, where groups, schools and individual visitors can get to work themselves. The exhibition runs from 4 April to 2 November 2025.
