S.M.A.K. and Zebrastraat invite you to a lecture on the surprising connections between surrealism and artificial intelligence. This lecture takes its starting point in the exhibition NTAa'25: Intelligence, it's automatic at Zebrastraat and explores how art and automatism have been connected throughout history. In doing so, it offers a new perspective on the questions and challenges facing contemporary art today.

Art critic Dominic van den Boogerd, tutor at De Ateliers in Amsterdam, takes you on a journey through contemporary painting in Belgium, using numerous works of art in the exhibition Painting After Painting. He reflects on what exactly is contemporary, painterly and Belgian about these works.

Book presentation 'On Hope, Etc.' with conversation between Elke Andreas Boon and Pierre Muylle

S.M.A.K. contributed to the book ‘On Hope, Etc.’ by artist/musician Elke Andreas Boon. To mark the launch of this publication, you can attend a conversation between curator Pierre Muylle and Elke Andreas Boon at Huis Ligy on Saturday 10 May. The book takes you through Boon's multidisciplinary work from 2002 to the present and was released simultaneously with the music album ‘The Broken Heart of Mati Le Dee’. You can support the book by purchasing the edition ‘The Rosary’ (2018), a rosary made of white and red chewing gum literally soaked in the artist's DNA.
