NL – ‘Writing Machine’ werkt voor de kunstenaar als een groot fototoestel. Een denkbeeldig personage kan via de trechter in de machine verdwijnen. Langs ijzeren afsluitplaten, die ook goochelaars bij verdwijntrucs gebruiken, kan hij of zij tot in de kast vlakbij de schrijfmachine komen, zo dichtbij dat de schrijver de gedachten van de persoon die binnenin zit kan uittikken.
ENG – In the artist’s view, ‘Writing Machine’ operates as a big camera. An imaginary figure can disappear into the machine through the funnel. By means of metal partitions, which conjurors also use in disappearing tricks, he or she can move inside the cabinet right up to the typewriter, so close that the writer can type out the thoughts of the person inside.
FR – ‘Writing Machine’ fonctionne pour l’artiste comme une grande chambre photographique. Un personnage imaginaire peut disparaître dans la machine par l’entonnoir. Passant par des obturateurs en acier, également utilisés par les prestidigitateurs, il peut déboucher dans la case à proximité de la machine à écrire, si près que l’écrivain peut taper les pensées de la personne à l’intérieur.
