NL - Met zijn uitvergrote objecten verwees Klapheck naar onze neiging tot fetisjeren. Dat wordt versterkt door de titels die hij aan zijn schilderijen gaf. Ze projecteren menselijke kenmerken op de afgebeelde objecten, waardoor deze een extra betekenislaag krijgen en tegelijk vertrouwd en vreemd overkomen. Zo suggereert de titel van dit schilderij dat het mysterieuze voorwerp de belichaming zou zijn van een overspelige man.
ENG - With his enlarged objects, Klapheck alluded to our tendency to fetichise. This was underpinned by the titles that he gave to his paintings, which project human characteristics onto the objects depicted. They consequently acquire an additional layer of meaning, thus lending them an appearance that is both familiar and strange. For example, the title of this painting suggests that the mysterious object could be the embodiment of an adulterous man.
FR - Par ses objets surdimensionnés, Klapheck renvoyait à notre tendance au fétichisme, sentiment renforcé par les titres qu’il donnait à ses peintures. Elles projettent des caractéristiques humaines sur les objets reproduits, leur conférant ainsi une signification supplémentaire tout en paraissant à la fois familiers et étranges. Le titre de cette peinture suggère donc que l’objet mystérieux serait l’incarnation d’un homme adultère.
