NL - In 1991 vulde Ross een vingerhoed met het stof uit zijn appartement. Als titel ervoor koos hij: ‘The Smallest Type of Architecture for the Body Containing the Dust from My Bedroom, My Studio, My Living Room, My Kitchen and My Bathroom’. Met zijn verwijzing naar huishoudelijke taken, miniatuurobjecten uit sprookjes en de bescherming van het lichaam, levert het werkje een ironische commentaar op de ‘gewichtige’ minimalistische metaalsculpturen van kunstenaars zoals Donald Judd. ‘The Smallest Type of Architecture…’ maakte deel uit van de S.M.A.K.-tentoonstelling ‘De Rode Poort’ in 1996 en behoort sindsdien tot de vaste collectie van het museum.
ENG - In 1991 Ross filled a thimble with dust found in his flat. The title he chose for it was: ‘The Smallest Type of Architecture For The Body Containing The Dust From My Bedroom, My Studio, My Living Room, My Kitchen and My Bathroom’. With its references to household jobs, miniature objects in fairytales and the protection of the body, this small work comments ironically on the ‘weighty’ minimalist sculptures in metal by such artists as Donald Judd. ‘The Smallest Type of Architecture…’ was included in the ‘De Rode Poort’ exhibition at S.M.A.K. in 1996 and has since been part of the museum’s permanent collection.

Il a choisi comme titre: ‘The Smallest Type of Architecture For The Body Containing The Dust From My Bedroom, My Studio, My Living Room, My Kitchen and My Bathroom’. Par sa référence aux tâches ménagères, aux objets miniatures dans les contes de fées et à la protection du corps, cette petite œuvre est un commentaire ironique des sculptures métalliques minimalistes ‘pesantes’ d’artistes tels que Donald Judd. ‘The Smallest Type of Architecture…’ faisait partie de l’exposition du S.M.A.K. ‘De Rode Poort’ en 1996 et appartient depuis lors à la collection permanente du musée.
