Come to S.M.A.K. during the Christmas holidays! When it's freezing outside, when it gets dark soon and when corona calls for caution, a visit to the museum is the ideal choice. Enjoy The Exhibition, POP ART, our discovery tours and Thursday Late.
Look at art from a gym mat or get lost in a maze. The Exhibition is an exhibition for and by children and young people. The booklet 'Small Catalogue of the S.M.A.K. Collection' served as a starting point for this exhibition. It contains all the works of art selected from our collection by young S.M.A.K. visitors aged 4 to 14. According to them, these works are most special, interesting, sensitive, confusing, inspiring... You will leave with more questions than answers, and that is exactly the intention!
The pop period has had a far-reaching influence on the further development of art, but also on our society. Just think of the impact of the (mass) media, the consumer society and the abundance of edited images. The exhibition brings together more than 45 top works from the Matthys-Colle private collection and the S.M.A.K. museum collection.
With works by Evelyne Axell, Christo, Tetsumi Kudo, Roy Lichtenstein, Claes Oldenburg, Daniel Spoerri, Andy Warhol, Tom Wesselmann, Panamarenko, Martial Raysse, Gerhard Richter and Robert Rauschenberg, among others.
Every first Thursday of the month, S.M.A.K. and the other Ghent museums keep their doors open until 10 pm. Be there during the first Late Thursday of 2022! Admission is free for children (under 18). Blockbuster students are welcome for a well-deserved study break and only pay 2 euro.
