NL – Deze installatie bestaat uit een ventilator en een reeks met kalkeerpapier bedekte kleurenfoto’s van een anoniem, desolaat landschap. De heen-en-weerbeweging van de waaier maakt de foto’s één voor één zichtbaar. Zhang Peili fotografeerde het landschap en doorliep daarbij beeld na beeld het hele spectrum van de minimum tot de maximum sluitertijd van de camera, met het diafragma op de laagste waarde. De kunstenaar presenteert de foto’s gerangschikt van onderbelichte tot overbelichte staat. Met dit werk bevraagt hij de objectiviteit en geloofwaardigheid van fotografie als medium.
ENG – This installation consists of a fan and a series of colour photos, covered with tracing paper, of an anonymous, desolate landscape. The back and forth movement of the fan makes the photos visible one at a time. Zhang Peili had photographed the landscape and, image by image, went through the entire range from the minimum to the maximum shutter speed of the camera, with the aperture at the lowest value. The artist presents the photographs arranged from underexposed to overexposed. With this work he questions the objectivity and credibility of photography as a medium.
FR - Cette installation se compose d’un ventilateur et d’une série de photos couleurs recouvertes de papier calque d’un paysage anonyme et désolé. Le mouvement de va-et-vient du ventilateur fait que les photos sont visibles l’une après l’autre. Zhang Peili a photographié le paysage et a parcouru image après image le spectre complet du temps d’obturation de la caméra, du minimum au maximum, le diaphragme étant au plus bas. L’artiste présente les photos classées depuis un état sous-exposé à un état sur-exposé. Avec cette oeuvre, il s’interroge sur l’objectivité et la crédibilité de la photographie en tant que moyen d’expression.
