On cats and postcards | On sale in the bookshop

Elly strik haldol

Postcards of drawings by the artist Elly Strik are on sale in the bookshop.

On the occasion of the Drawing | The Bottom Line exhibition, the artist Elly Strik spent several days at Het Heiveld, a social services residential care centre. While there she was inspired by the presence of Haldol, the ‘social worker cat’, who lives in the section for people with dementia. Like the anxiety-inhibiting drug of the same name, the cat has a calming effect on the residents.

Elly Strik went to the centre to sign the postcards for the residents. The cards are now on sale in the museum bookshop at 1 euro each.

S.M.A.K. often organises activities for people with dementia and their carers, with the aim of establishing a positive view of their changing consciousness. Keep an eye on our calendar.
