Book Presentation Grace Ndiritu, Healing The Museum & Talk with Philippe Van Cauteren

On the occasion of Grace Ndiritu's exhibition Healing The Museum, her first monograph of the same name is published. Last Sunday, we presented the book and Grace Ndiritu talked with Philippe Van Cauteren about the future of the museum. The book is published by Motto Books in collaboration with S.M.A.K. and the University of Melbourne.

Grace Ndiritu will hold the shamanic performance 'Labour #3: Birth of a New Museum' on Monday 22 May 2023 at 5 pm. She invites pregnant people to participate in an initiation ceremony. During this ritual, the participants spiritually connect with their unborn child. They are the visitors of the future.

This publishing project consists of a mainly blank book, open to every possible idea and image. The book is published by M-S B Verlag and HOPPER&FUCHS and five translations of the same book as paperback editions.

Deep Time - a theme highlighted in the exhibition Healing The Museum – means we are invited to look at things on a geological timescale. Ory Dessau will explore the meaning of time and duration in liaison with the work of Grace Ndiritu.

Dirk Zoete (1969) began drawing cacti in 2018, simplifying the forms of the plant into a constellation of semi-abstract forms. After publishing a first book about this series: The Cactus Derivatives in 2020, he has finished a new, second volume which he will present on 25 June.

Following the exhibition Pieter Engels Fabulous Oldest Hits, co-curator Sam Steverlynck talks to Dutch art critic Carel Blotkamp on Sunday 2 July 2023 at 11:00. During this talk, Pieter Engels' work will be framed within his relationship to contemporaries and 'polder conceptualists' such as Jan Dibbets, Marinus Boezem, Ger van Elk and Wim T. Schippers.
