In 2021 we will celebrate the 20th edition of Heritage Day. We are planning a weekend of festivities on 24 and 25 April, under the theme of 'The Night'.
This year, Erfgoeddag is celebrating its 20th anniversary and we are celebrating it in the S.M.A.K. For this anniversary, we are turning it into a festive weekend and you can have a coronary.
Not only on Sunday but also on Saturday evening the museum is open for free and we will immerse you in the theme of 'The Night'. Would you like to discover the museum at sunset or when the night falls? Then come to our nocturne on Saturday 24 April from 18:00 to 23:00.
Does Jan Fabre measure the clouds or does he measure the hour of blue on this heritage night? Come and experience the hour of blue in S.M.A.K. and go in search of the work that most evokes a night-time feeling in you.
Do you hear what I hear? Go to Citadel Park and dive into our Imaginary Museum. With your eyes closed you can listen to how the works of art from the S.M.A.K. collection come to life...
Walk through the Citadel Park in Ghent, scan a QR code with your ErfgoedApp and, with your eyes closed, listen to one or more stories about works of art that you can only see in your imagination.
Meet The Man Who Measures the Clouds by Jan Fabre, play with The Bird by Thierry de Cordier and go on a journey with Panamarenko's Aeromodeller. In this art matinee, you will be challenged with creative assignments that evoke the nocturnal atmosphere of the park at a number of locations that you will encounter on your route.
With the work 'Tien taarten - Ten cakes, 2018' in the exhibition 'Hello, are we in the show?', the artist duo Denicolai & Provoost want to keep the memory of historical events alive by consuming and digesting the past together.
