On Thursday 4 April 2024, S.M.A.K. and the other Ghent museums will keep their doors open until 22:00. Come along for an evening visit to the ongoing exhibitions, live music by Citadelic Jazz, and a bite to eat at the museum café Wilde Weide.
We take you into the inventive visual world of Karlo Kacharava in his first retrospective outside Georgia, Sentimental Traveller. Besides paintings, it includes numerous storyboards, poems and drawings by the artist.
Citadelic Jazz provides your share of live music on Thursday nights.
On Thursday 4 April, that will be Klinker / Ensemble II: Aleksandar Škorić / Peter Puype.
Klinker is an interdisciplinary, non-conventional art-music-performance group, in which visual artist/musician Peter Puype takes the lead and constantly changes musicians. Each different combination is given an "ensemble number".
"Klinker / Ensemble II" is in duo with drummer Aleksandar Škorić from Serbia. Together they perform a powerful rhythmic hurricane dancing on dissonant waves of bass: an intense improvisation, a dizzying tempo with the power of a nuclear missile.
Klinker (Clinker) refers to an artificial brick, a mistake, a misplaced note as well as to a worthless person or insignificant or ineffectual thing.
