19:00 Guided introductory tour Jan Van Imschoot & Karlo Kacharava

Jan Van Imschoot Lechange des betises 2021

With The End Is Never Near, S.M.A.K. presents Jan Van Imschoot's first retrospective exhibition. The exhibition comprises more than 80 works on canvas and offers an overview from 1996 to the present. His work is built around historical themes from literature and art history. This figurative Belgian painter bridges the gap with artists such as Caravaggio, Tintoretto, Goya and Manet. With our guide, you will learn all about these art-historical references and double layers in the expo.

We will also dwell on the work of Karlo Kacharava in his also first retrospective outside Georgia, Sentimental Traveller. Besides paintings, numerous storyboards, poems and drawings by the artist are also included.
