It's time for Thursday Late again! S.M.A.K. and the other museums in Ghent will keep their doors open until 22:00.
The Ghent Museum Night of 2 December 2021 will be moved to spring 2022 due to the current corona situation. Thursday Late, the monthly evening opening of the museums, will take place.
"Our museums are working corona-silently and will remain open. We want to avoid a huge rush of people - as is usually the case during the Museum Night. Postponement is not a cancellation. If the situation allows it in the spring of 2022, Museum Night will still take place".
- Sami Souguir, alderman for culture
During Museum Night you can discover 45 top works in POPART From Warhol to Panamarenko Collection Matthys-Colle & S.M.A.K. Pop art started out in the mid-1950s and experienced its heyday in the 1960s. This autumn, S.M.A.K. will be portraying this art movement that is more topical than ever, just think of the impact of the (mass) media, the consumer society and the abundance of manipulated images.
To avoid contraction, we have decided to cancel the concerts of Citadelic Jazz. You can, however, enjoy our exhibitions in peace.
You can see our collection through the eyes of children and young people in The Exhibition The Little Catalogue of the S.M.A.K. Collection. More than 400 children and young people had their say in S.M.A.K. and decided which collection works should be put on the entire first floor. With a maze, beanbags and a laboratory!
