Our Pop Art exhibition opens on Saturday 27 November 2021. It brings together forty top works from the Matthys-Colle private collection, which S.M.A.K. recently received on long-term loan, and the S.M.A.K. museum collection.

Pop art emerged in the mid-fifties and experienced its heyday in the sixties of the 20th century. This autumn, S.M.A.K. will be portraying this art movement, which is more topical than ever, just think of the impact of the (mass) media, the consumer society and the abundance of manipulated images. Forty top works by American and European artists guide you through the key period of post-war art history.

With works by Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, Tom Wesselmann, Panamarenko, Martial Raysse, Christo, Jean Tinguely, Marcel Broodthaers, Konrad Klapheck, Yves Klein, Claes Oldenburg, Arman and Gerhard Richter, among others.
