The versatile Daniel Spoerri is an important representative of nouveau réalisme. The artist grew up in Romania. Trained as a dancer and choreographer, he expanded his artistic practice in the 1950s to include visual art. In collages and assemblages in which he incorporates everyday objects, he tries to capture and distort reality. In addition, Spoerri also makes performances and artists’ books.
