Under the heading 'S.M.A.K. goes MAD', we are showing THERE IS A MAN by Guillaume Leblon in PXL-MAD School of Arts in Hasselt.
After the exhibitions 'Ungenau' (Geel, 2015) and TRUST (Les Brasseurs, Liège, 2018), a new collaboration with PXL-MAD School of Arts in Hasselt is being launched under the title 'S.M.A.K. goes MAD'.
The exhibition includes a selection of artworks from the S.M.A.K. collection, which immediately gives the museum the opportunity to once again enter into dialogue with its collection with the outside world (in this case, an educational institution). At the same time it gives the PXL-MAD School of Arts the opportunity to bring art from a museum collection closer to the students and to build up a discourse around it.The installation THERE IS A MAN (2014-'16) by the French artist Guillaume Leblon (b. 1971, Lille) is an important recent acquisition by S.M.A.K. Within the S.M.A.K. collection, this is the first work by this artist and was therefore the occasion to explore his oeuvre. With Leblon's solo exhibition at S.M.A.K. (2016), his work was shown extensively in Belgium for the first time.
