"The Ventriloquist is a character who has a place in my oeuvre as a metaphor of the discomfort and complications of the now."
Guy Van Bossche (b1952, Mortsel) is known for his critical ironic realism, often referred to as "the qualities of discomfort". His oeuvre involves the use of existing and self-reconstructed visual material, exploring themes such as violence, censorship, freedom and other ideological acts and concepts. He reforms and presents these through the filter of painting.
