NL – Tekeningen vormen een wezenlijk onderdeel van het oeuvre van De Bruyckere. Ze maakt ze in reeksen en ze verrijken haar sculpturen met hun variaties en nuances. Hoewel De Bruyckeres ruimtelijk werk meer bekend is dan haar tekeningen, gaan beide disciplines bij de ontplooiing van haar oeuvre hand in hand. In tekeningenreeksen verdiept de kunstenaar zich in vooral psychologische thema’s en ontwikkelt ze haar beeldend onderzoek. Daarbij inspireert ze zich onder meer op anatomische studies en academische tekeningen naar model.
ENG – Drawings are an essential part of De Bruyckere’s oeuvre. She makes them in series and they enrich her sculptures with their variations and nuances. Although De Bruyckere’s three-dimensional work is better known than her drawings, the two disciplines go hand in hand in the development of her oeuvre. In her series of drawings, the artist above all explores psychological topics and develops her visual research, taking inspiration among other things from anatomical studies and academic life drawings.
FR - Les dessins constituent une partie essentielle de l’œuvre de De Bruyckere. Elle les fait en séries et ils enrichissent ses sculptures de leurs variations et de leurs nuances. Bien que l’œuvre spatiale de De Bruyckere soit plus connue que ses dessins, les deux disciplines vont de pair dans le développement de son œuvre. Dans les séries de dessins, l’artiste approfondit surtout des thèmes psychologiques et développe ses recherches plastiques. Pour ce faire, elle s’inspire, entre autres, d’études anatomiques et de dessins académiques d’après modèle.
