4.May.23
Late donderdag cover 2

M I M I brings a sound performance at 'The Temple' by Grace Ndiritu on Late Thursday 4 May at 21:00. Expect a mix of electronic sounds, spoken word, Tibetan pan and bells. Lay back and immerse yourself in this sound bath.

Maria Muehombo, known as M I M I, is an interdisciplinary artist, curator and sound performer from Brussels. With her sound bath on Late Thursday, she activates Grace Ndiritu's 'The Temple', a place Ndiritu designed to showcase S.M.A.K.'s collection in a critical way. 'The Temple' is also a spiritual space for encounter, transition and healing.

Born in Lusaka, M I M I came to Belgium at a young age and studied fine art at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Liège. With family scattered around the world, she began to travel and discover other cultures and found her deep admiration for nature, from which she draws most of her inspiration.

In 2016, she started curating events for non-profit organisations, which led her to the music world, and while continuing to curate, she started DJing and producing.

She has collaborated on international projects such as the Dakar Biennale 2022 in Senegal, where she worked as scenographer and sound artist for Black Rock, Kehinde Wiley's exhibition at 'Maison de la Culture Douta Seck'.
