Book presentation and panel discussion: To a Dead Hare

25.May.25
To A Dead Hare 1

Mentormentor, MER.Books and S.M.A.K. invite you to the book presentation of 'To a Dead Hare', with an introduction by Stefan Vanthuyne, a conversation between Anja Hellebaut and Philippe Van Cauteren, and testimonials from participants in the Light Sensitivity project as part of S.M.A.K. Moves.

'To a Dead Hare' collects images from trajectories around photography, created by mentormentor over the past few years in collaboration with S.M.A.K. and people with mental vulnerabilities. The title was inspired by Joseph Beuys’ iconic performance How to Explain Pictures to a Dead Hare (1965), a poetic and mysterious exploration of the relationship between art, language and meaning. Just as Beuys believed that art can be healing and transformative, To a Dead Hare reflects the value of art as a space for self-discovery, communication, and connection.
