On Sunday 8 February, Filip Van Dingenen will present his monograph “Protocols & Diplomacy for undisciplined practitioners”, published by Hopper & Fuchs. The presentation will be accompanied by a panel discussion with curator Heidi Ballet, Bruno Devos (Hopper & Fuchs) and Filip Van Dingenen.
This publication brings together and interweaves various projects from Filip Van Dingenen's artistic practice. It highlights the participatory, ecological and critical collective research dimensions inherent in each of his projects. Protocols & Diplomacy attempts to present the underlying protocols, as well as the experiences and stories that have emerged from them, and offers insight into Van Dingenen's own diplomacy as an artist. To this end, he identifies, investigates and observes the critical zones within his practice. This exploration is guided by a series of contradictory concepts that continue to fascinate him. Particular attention is paid to the research practices of Ecole Mondiale, Nfumu-Ngui (The Botanical Archive of the Albino Gorilla Snowflake), Suskewiet Visions and Platform for Algae Diplomacy.
Van Dingenen's monograph is a co-production of Wouters Gallery, Jubilee Platform for Artistic Research and Fantaman Productions & Matelisto Contemporary Movements.
With the support of the Flemish Community, KIOSK, Gluon, Museum Dhondt-Dhaenens, S.M.A.K., CC Strombeek & WIELS.
