Chambres d’Amis City Walk for Museum Pass Holders (SOLD OUT)
As a preview of the exhibition '40 Years of Chambres d'Amis', we are organizing a guided city walk during the Week of Belgian Museums, visiting the houses and stories from the iconic 'Chambres d'Amis' exhibition.
Forty years ago, Jan Hoet shook up the city centre of Ghent with the exhibition Chambres d’Amis. At the time, 51 artists showcased contemporary art in private homes scattered across the city. Starting 30 May 2026, S.M.A.K. looks back at this groundbreaking event with the exhibition Chambres d’Amis turns 40.
To mark the Week of Belgian Museums, S.M.A.K. is organising a guided city walk exclusively for museum pass holders. During this afternoon, you will discover the story of Chambres d’Amis by visiting several locations and houses from the original route. It is the perfect preview of the exhibition opening at S.M.A.K. the following week.

- Departure and arrival location: S.M.A.K. (Jan Hoetplein 1, 9000 Ghent)
- Participation is free, registration is mandatory via reservation@smak.be (limited spots available). (SOLD OUT)

- Please note that this is a brisk 2-hour city walk; please adapt your clothing and footwear to the weather conditions.
- In the event of very poor weather, the walk will be cancelled a few days in advance.
