Design Fest Gent takes place at various locations in Ghent, including Room 1 in S.M.A.K. On 28, 29 and 30 April 2022, art collective CREW presents the research project 'Soulhacker'.
The artists of CREW have been exploring the artistic possibilities of technologies such as Virtual Reality - VR - and Mixed Reality since 1996.
What role can art and VR play in the treatment and healing of psychological suffering? That is the question of their new research project 'Soulhacker'. The collective is developing virtual spaces in which neurologists and neuropsychiatrists from Brai3n will supervise and treat patients with various psychopathologies.
Soulhacker' harks back to the hypnotherapy of Dr. Milton Erickson in which he dialogued with his clients and patients using metaphors, contradictions and symbols rather than instructions. Indirect hypnosis' can also be achieved through the use of VR. What is important here is that the patient also works with these metaphors himself during the therapy.
Curious? During Design Fest Ghent, part of the Soulhacker research can be experienced - VR-wise - in the S.M.A.K.
