On Sunday 25 June 2023, artist Dirk Zoete will present his second publication 'Cactus Derivatives, Vol. 2'. After a short film screening about the creative process, he will talk to Bruno Devos, the book's publisher.
Dirk Zoete began drawing cacti in 2018, transforming the plant's forms into semi-abstract constellations. After publishing a first book on this series, Cactus Derivatives, Vol. 1 in 2020, he now has a second volume ready: Cactus Derivatives, Vol. 2.
In this second volume, Dirk Zoete continues his journey through the botanical world. While some drawings refer to the first series, the use of colour is strikingly different this time. Zoete also focuses more on the background, creating extra depth and dimensionality, making his imaginary garden even more playful and sensory.
