View interpretations of Raoul De Keyser's oeuvre by blind and visually impaired people in the exhibition TASTLIJNEN.
Over the past year, students from the Sint-Rafaël special needs school for blind and visually impaired children worked on Raoul De Keyser's work during the ZOOM project. Platvvorm, an artists' initiative in Deinze, is exhibiting the artworks under the title TASTLIJNEN (Touch Lines).
The starting point for the project was Raoul De Keyser's exhibition “oeuvre”. Whereas the painter Raoul De Keyser moves from figuration to abstraction through isolation and zooming in, artists from BuSo Sint-Rafaël, due to their specific limitations, often have to form an image of the whole from the details. This tension formed the basis of the ZOOM project, which explored themes such as figuration, abstraction and composition. Whereas the painter De Keyser was able to use colour to enhance his compositions, the artists from BuSo Sint-Rafaël sought alternatives.
In collaboration with Aifoon and S.M.A.K., the pupils worked in different groups on a weekly basis. They worked together in the studio, in religious education classes and during echolocation lessons.
