Relive the opening day of ‘Chambres d’Amis’ from June 21, 1986 during the screening of ‘The Longest Day’, featuring more than 6 hours of live television.

On June 21, 1986, the opening day of Chambres d’Amis, an exceptional television milestone took place: for over six hours, the former public broadcaster BRT provided live coverage of the Ghent Art Summer. Television history was made with reporters dialling into the central studio in Brussels live, using satellite connections and even a helicopter.

Specially for the commemorative exhibition, the broadcast 'The Longest Day' (De Langste Dag), directed by Jef Cornelis, will be screened throughout the weekend—and on Sunday, November 22.
