In the Spotlight: ZINE ZINE
During 10 years of S.M.A.K. Moves, we give various partners the space to show their work, plan activities or use the museum as their temporary workplace.
Together with print studio Topo Copy and De Rode Antraciet, S.M.A.K. organises workshops in Ghent prison. During these workshops, artists and prisoners work together on publications that are distributed inside and outside the prison. You can view the five editions that have been produced in In the Spotlight. It is not possible to start a sixth edition due to the current crisis within the prison system (overcrowding and staff shortages), which has brought all sports and cultural activities at Nieuwe Wandeling prison to a standstill for more than a year and a half.
On the occasion of 10 years of S.M.A.K. Moves, Topo Copy decided to produce a publication after all. For the first time, it was a booklet without any input from the Nieuwe Wandeling prison. Topo Copy sought inspiration in what had gone before and found the title of this booklet in Zine Zine #4...
Topo Copy is a centre for print, ink and paper (art). Topo Copy creates and publishes artistic publications under its own self-publishing label, collects and unlocks a colourful collection of (fan) zines and art books, and runs an open studio with machinery to promote creation with ink and paper.
