You are warmly invited to the opening night of two new exhibitions.

Join us on Friday evening, 29 May 2026, from 7 to 11 pm to celebrate the opening of Carole Vanderlinden’s solo exhibition Keep a promise and to look back at the groundbreaking 1986 exhibition Chambres d’Amis, in Chambres d'Amis turns 40.

From 7 pm: continuous screening of ‘De Langste Dag’ (The Longest Day)

On 21 June 1986, the opening day of Chambres d'Amis, an extraordinary television event took place: for more than six hours, the former BRT broadcast live coverage of the Ghent Summer of Arts. Television history was made as reporters called into the central studio in Brussels via satellite links and even a helicopter. Especially for this commemorative exhibition, the broadcast ‘De Langste Dag’, directed by Jef Cornelis, will be shown continuously during the opening night.

At 9 pm: Concert by The Mudgang

The Ghent-based punk band The Mudgang will perform a concert in the entrance hall. The band also played a set during Antichambre, one of the exhibitions held during Chambres d’Amis. They will perform a selection of songs from that period alongside more recent work.
