Looking for a creative summer camp for your artistic adventurer?
At S.M.A.K., children immerse themselves in the world of contemporary art for four days. Each day, we start at the exhibition with one thought-provoking question. Together with guides Omar, Jelle, Toon or Joris, we search for the answer in the museum. Then we get to work in the studio. We build, paint, draw, collect and imagine!
Day 1 – Upside Down & Underground
What is hidden beneath the ground?
After exploring the exhibition Francisca García & Mario Navarro | Unearthed Conversation, we delve deeper into our own imagination. We create secret layered paintings, build mini worlds and discover how art can reveal hidden stories.
Day 2 – Art in your Room!
Can art also live in someone's home?
This is exactly what happened 40 years ago during Chambres d'Amis. Artists created art in people's homes instead of in museums. Today, we design our own art room. What happens when a work of art suddenly appears in your bedroom? Or in the kitchen? Imagination and crafting fun guaranteed!
Day 3 – Treasures from the Supermarket
Can a tin of soup be art?
After visiting the museum, we look at everyday objects with new eyes. We collect packaging and use it to create surprising art installations. What is value? And who actually determines it?
Day 4 – The Great Art Inventors
We look back: Which ideas did we find most remarkable?
We choose our favourite source of inspiration from the whole week and create our own exhibition in the museum. We invite everyone to come and admire our works of art at the grand opening from 4:30 p.m.
