In previous artistic projects, Emilio López-Menchero raised the issue of the identity of the artist in our society. In most cases he started from a well-known icon of literature, music, film or even cartoons, so as to see persistent myths from a different angle. Among other things he had himself photographed dressed up as Pablo Picasso, Che Guevara, Frida Kahlo and Auguste Rodin. During ‘Over the Edges’ in 2000 he played a recorded ‘Tarzan Call’ that sounded out across the centre of Ghent at regular intervals to disturb the public ‘peace and quiet’ of the urban jungle.
