NL - Op haar hoge sokkel staart een kat naar een neonlamp. Ze lijkt wel gehypnotiseerd door het licht. Bewegingsloos zit de kat te kijken, haar blik en lijf verheven boven die van ons. Hoe is ze op die plek geraakt?
In ‘Solarkatze’ zorgt de hoogte van de sokkel ervoor dat je anders gaat kijken. De sokkel herinnert aan de grandeur van klassieke sculpturen, maar de combinatie met het huisdier en het ordinaire neonlicht ondermijnen dit idee op een speelse manier. De opbouw van de sculptuur is eenvoudig: een kat op een sokkel onder een lamp. Deze directe, rechttoe rechtaan benadering heeft een poëtisch effect. ‘Solarkatze’ zou een beeld kunnen zijn uit een sprookje of een fragment uit een absurd gedicht.

In ‘Solarkatze’ the height of the plinth makes you view things differently. The plinth is a reminder of the grandeur of classical sculptures, but its combination with a domestic animal and the plain neon light playfully undermine this notion. The composition of the sculpture is simple: a cat on a plinth under a lamp. This direct, straightforward approach has a poetic effect. ‘Solarkatze’ could be an image from a fairytale or part of an absurd poem.

Dans ‘Solarkatze’, la hauteur du socle fait qu’on jette un regard différent. Le socle rappelle la grandeur des sculptures classiques, mais la combinaison avec l’animal domestique et la lampe au néon ordinaire sapent cette idée de manière ludique. La construction de la sculpture est simple: un chat sur un socle sous une lampe.
