NL - ‘Storage for Distorted Matter’ is een project dat Loek Grootjans in 2008 opstartte en tot op vandaag gedreven blijft voortzetten. Het houdt het midden tussen een ambitieus Gesamtkunstwerk en een breed opgezet sociologisch experiment. Ook deze installatie, met haar sculpturale en grafische elementen, is trouw aan Grootjans’ visie. Het is geen ‘origineel’ of ‘authentiek’ werk maar ontstaan uit recyclage. De kunstenaar liet zijn poëtische werk ‘Wachtkamer tot de hemel’ uit 2006 omsmelten in een industriële hoogoven. “Wat een ervaring! Van hemelpoort tot hellevuur,” liet hij zich al gekscherend ontvallen tijdens het omwerkingsproces.

It is halfway between an ambitious Gesamtkunstwerk and a wide-ranging sociological experiment. This installation, with its sculptural and graphic elements, is also true to Grootjans’ outlook. It is not an ‘original’ or ‘authentic’ work, but is made of recycled material. The artist had his poetic 2006 work ‘Waiting Room For Heaven’ melted down again in an industrial blast furnace. During the refashioning process, he jestingly commented: “What an experience! From the gates of heaven to the fires of hell”.
FR - ‘Storage for Distorted Matter’ est un projet que Loek Grootjans a lancé en 2008 et qu’il a poursuivi jusqu’à ce jour avec ardeur. C’est un compromis entre un Gesamtkunstwerk ambitieux et une vaste expérience sociologique. Cette installation, composée d’éléments sculpturaux et graphiques, est également fidèle à la vision de Grootjans. Ce n’est pas une œuvre ‘originale’ ou ‘authentique’, mais elle est le résultat du recyclage. L’artiste a fait fondre sa poétique ‘Salle d’attente jusqu’au ciel’ de 2006 dans un haut fourneau industriel. “Quelle expérience! De la porte du ciel au feu de l’enfer,” a-t-il lâché en plaisantant pendant le processus de refonte.
