Exhibition S.M.A.K., Vooruit and 5VOOR12 npo are challenging the summer with the first edition of Electrified. It will be a pioneering cooperation, and will resound in musical and artistic circles.
For years, the three partners have been in each other’s proximity, but they will only meet each other for the first time this year in Electrified. The meeting place is the border territory between the visual arts, the art of sound and electronics. The result of the encounter: an innovative project including an exhibition and a live programme, linked to the night happening by 10 Days Off in Vooruit during the Festival of Ghent. The exhibition component will be presented by Ronald Kuivila (US) and Edwin van der Heide (NL) two leading artists. Both artists bring compositions to the Kunst Nu space at the S.M.A.K. and to Citadel Park, where the elements of nature play a leading part. Opening weekend live programme: Fri 18/07: Opening night - 8 pm - entrance hall S.M.A.K. - free from 9 pm: audiovisual performances by: Optical Machines (NL) Rotor (BE) Janek Schaefer (UK) Sat 19/07: DC Recordings Special - 4 pm - entrance hall S.M.A.K. During the Festival of Ghent, the museum will be open on Monday 21/07/2008, but it will be closed on Monday 28/07/2008.
