Recent Donations

The S.M.A.K. collection is built through acquisitions by the museum, works deposited from the collection of the Flemish Community, as well as loans and donations from private collectors. Today, the collection comprises more than six thousand works of art. This presentation brings together a selection of recently donated works, some of which are being shown for the very first time.

Although private collectors are driven by a personal interest in contemporary art, their donations contribute to the development of public artistic heritage. Artists also sometimes donate their own work, often as a sign of recognition of the special relationship between them and the museum.

S.M.A.K. is therefore grateful to all its private donors for their generosity and for the trust they place in the museum as the future custodian of these works of art.
