Citadelic Jazz

From 8 to 10 pm
Belgian drummer Raf Vertessen has been living, working and playing in Brooklyn for some time now. There he is now part of the avant-garde downtown scene. He was recently invited by Will Green for the first time to play in The Stone now in October. The Stone, that's John Zorn's legendary club. In 2016 he also formed his international quartet with tenor saxophonist Anna Webber (John Hollenbeck Large Ensemble, Mat Mitchell, ... ), bassist Nick Dunston (Marc Ribot) and trumpet player Adam O'Farrill, who will go on European tour in October to release their first long-player LOI. Quietly and swiftly he continues to move on and nowadays he can count Joe McPhee or Joe Morris among his good acquaintances. So we'll have to see what loose game we can tie up for 2 confrontations.

This nocturne runs within the framework of NO(W)WORRIES, a generous city festival for a tremendously uncertain future. Six culture houses in Ghent - Vooruit, CAMPO, Kopergietery, NTGent, Opera Ballet Vlaanderen and S.M.A.K. - are opening their doors and taking up public space. We will be showing brand new work by exciting creators who offer a different perspective on our new world.
