In 'Unearthed Conversation', Chilean artists Francisca García and Mario Navarro focus on the Atacama Desert at the mouth of the Loa River in northern Chile. This landscape is shaped by diverse narratives: archaeological finds from the ancient Chango culture, similarities to the Martian landscape, the presence of the world's largest telescopes, and the scars left by the Pinochet dictatorship.
In the run-up to the exhibition opening, both artists joined Philippe Van Cauteren to delve deeper into the various complex themes presented in the show. What inspired them? How do they bring together past, present, and future? And what do they hope the visitor ultimately takes away?
