On Sunday 14 June, artist Carole Vanderlinden and art critic, writer and curator Hans den Hartog Jager will engage in a conversation on the occasion of Vanderlinden’s solo exhibition at S.M.A.K.
Following an initial in-depth conversation recently published in Carole Vanderlinden’s new monograph, Bad Manners (Zolo Press, 2026), the artist and art critic, writer, and curator Hans den Hartog Jager meet once again at S.M.A.K. for an artist talk.On the occasion of Keep a promise, Vanderlinden’s first solo exhibition at the museum, they will continue their conversation about her artistry, painting, and recent works. The publication Carole Vanderlinden | Bad Manners will also be presented.
Carole Vanderlinden’s first monograph, Bad Manners, spans more than a decade of the artist’s practice. It brings together nearly 200 paintings and works on paper, alongside texts by the Belgian novelist Jean-Philippe Toussaint, essays by curators Ann Hoste, Ory Dessau, and Hans den Hartog Jager, as well as a conversation between musician and composer Joëlle Léandre and Vanderlinden. Published on the occasion of the solo exhibition Keep a Promise at S.M.A.K., Bad Manners was published by Zolo Press in collaboration with S.M.A.K. and Karma.
The event will conclude with a signing session by the artist.
