In the last weekend of "From the Collection | Verlust der Mitte" S.M.A.K. invites you to take part in a contemporary reinterpretation of the 1913 banquet and accompanying concert.
At the opening of the 1913 World Fair in Ghent, a large banquet took place in the Feestpaleis at Citadel Park. The guests were served a menu of no less than eight courses and could enjoy a dash of music performed by L'harmonie permanente de l'exposition universelle et internationale.
In exactly the same location, the current S.M.A.K., the exhibition Verlust der Mitte by the Swiss Christoph Büchel will end on 27 August. In this lifelike, museum-sized installation, the artist charges the unjust domination of the Western political, economic and social system against the backdrop of the events of the Ghent World Fair.Practical info
