Concert: 'Stories without words' by Sara Salvérius & Jean-Philippe Poncin

Late Donderdag

Sneak peek

Stories without words: a musical programme inspired by encounters in a residential care home
Accordion and clarinet
Free admission

At the request of Klarafestival 2024, Sara Salvérius spent a week in an assisted living centre in Brussels. During this period, immersed in the reality of the fourth age, she took the time to talk to the residents and listen to their stories, allowing her to gain inspiration for a new musical creation. The result was presented during a tour of several Brussels care homes, in collaboration with clarinettist Jean-Philippe Poncin, and brings them to the entrance hall of S.M.A.K. on Late Thursday.

The compositions reflect highly evocative and diverse musical impressions: some passages are imbued with melancholy and meditation, while others are energetic and rhythmic. Together, they weave a story without words. The intimacy of the compositions fosters an authentic emotional exchange, where emotion narrates and provides deep understanding, while also serving as testimony and connection between different communities and generations.

  • Starts at 20:30 in the entrance hall
  • Free admission
