This autumn, at S.M.A.K. you can discover the sound machines, music robots, sound paintings and music boxes of Logos Foundation and they organise workshops for families.
In 1968, Stichting Logos was founded by Godfried-Willem Raes. This artistic organisation promotes new music and creates sound art. In addition to music productions, concerts and technological research projects, they also regularly give sound workshops.
What does an old toothbrush sound like? What sound does an old sponge or chain make? Musicologist Mattias Parent helps discover the sounds of ordinary objects. During this sound workshop you will build and solder a "music board" yourself. This is a special musical instrument that directly converts vibrations of objects into amplified sound via contact microphones. At the basis of this self-made musical instrument are principles that are used by many sound artists.
