A piano generating images? Or a ballet dancer creating a painting while dancing? Singing plants? Nothing is too crazy for the Night of the Imagination on 29 September 2023. At sunset, the MSK, the S.M.A.K. and the GUM will transform into a sanctuary for the arts.
On 29 September, Ghent Festival of Flanders gives free rein to the imagination. Numerous performances will take place in the three museums of Ghent's museum quarter, as well as imaginative installations.
Besides the artistic part, there will also be surprising culinary discoveries and an extensive bar. What can be experienced at the end of the Night, the organisers will reveal soon.
Ever wanted to know what Shakespeare would sound like in Flemish? At Late Night Avant-Garde, Stefaan Degand reads translations of his ancient sonnets as if they were resonating for the first time, in the casual atmosphere of a brown pub. Casco Phil alternates ancient sound poems with short concerts, in which all preconceptions of contemporary music are thrown overboard.
Advanced technology and electronic music are rhymed with the old-fashioned harmonium in Le Pianographe, an invention by French brothers Florent and Romain Bodart. The audience is encouraged to play the Pianographe to produce not only sound but also images.
