Nacht van de Verbeelding
On 2 October, from sunset to midnight, Ghent Festival of Flanders opens a gateway to another reality. S.M.A.K., MSK and GUM become living works of art — a night of sound, installations and performances that defy genre and code. A place outside of time, outside of the familiar, where imagination is the only law.
! Please note: this event replaces the monthly Late Thursday at S.M.A.K. and requires a separate ticket. Tickets are only available via the Ghent Festival of Flanders website.
YOU ARE HERE (but not really) sketches spaces that are both real and intangible. Zones where logic falters, where unknown worlds intersect and new stories emerge — between the walls and the artworks of the museums themselves.
This is not a work of art to look at, but a state to disappear into.
A break in reality. A threshold where artists unravel the fixed forms of everyday life and unfold something radically new. The rooms, the walls, the artworks: they become see-through mirrors. Sound becomes shadow, movement opens up new dimensions. Different laws apply here. Here, boundaries blur.

Practical info
A ticket for Night of the Imagination gives you access to the three museums (S.M.A.K., MSK, GUM) and all performances and installations. Exchange your ticket for a stamp at the ticket desk on Jan Hoetplein. The stamp grants you access to all concerts and performances at the different locations. At the ticket desk, you will also receive a program booklet with map.
The ticket desk opens at 18:30. The first performances start at 19:21. At the start of the evening and throughout the night, you can enjoy snacks and drinks at the bar of De Wilde Weide.
The Night of Imagination guides you through several museums on the Citadel site in Ghent. All locations are within walking distance of each other.
