In the context of ‘40 Years of Chambres d’Amis’, Chris Dercon and Chantal Pattyn will engage in a conversation with Koen Brams and Claude Blondeel about the live coverage of the opening of ‘Chambres d’Amis’ on the former public broadcaster BRT.
On June 21, 1986, during the opening of the Ghent Art Summer, an exceptional television milestone took place: for over six hours, live coverage was broadcast of the opening of Chambres d’Amis and Initiatief ’86. Television history was made using satellite connections and even a helicopter. Producer-director Jef Cornelis pushed the boundaries of television, bringing art into people's living rooms in a marathon broadcast.
In this debate, Chris Dercon, who moderated the broadcast at the time, will talk with Claude Blondeel, the producer of this broadcast, and Koen Brams, an expert on the work of Jef Cornelis. Chantal Pattyn, head of radio station KLARA, will guide the conversation.
Speakers: Chris Dercon (managing director Fondation Cartier), Koen Brams (criticus), Claude Blondeel (producer)
Moderator: Chantal Pattyn (head of radio station KLARA)
