In this performative exhibition, the artworks do not hang passively on the wall waiting for attention, but are carried and shared with the audience. Several children, dancers from cabinet k performances, build an improvisation with the works, accompanied by live music. The slection was curated by Pierre Muylle and consists of works by European artists with intellectual disabilities.
Tickets are booked through VIERNULVIER.
Cooperation with various organisationsIn June 2022, vzw Wit.h asked dancer-choreographer Kwint Manshoven (kabinet k) to create a performative exhibition to mark the 20th anniversary of Wit.h. The remarkable result was the starting shot for the further development of this project, christened 'The Crip Academy', which is supported by Wit.h and laGeste.
Wit.h is an arts organisation working towards the inclusion of crip artists within the mainstream arts field. 'Crip' is the proud nickname for all those who deviate from 'the normal', 'the appropriate', 'the recognisable'. Crip you are, for example, because of a disability, a mental vulnerability or a completely different reason.
Ghent-based laGeste was born out of the merger between kabinet k and les ballets c de la b. laGeste focuses on dance, inclusion and the body. Pierre Muylle, independent curator, forms the link between the two producers.
