With The End Is Never Near, S.M.A.K. will bring its first retrospective exhibition from 7 October 2023. The expo comprises more than 100 works on canvas and offers an overview from 1996 to the present. His work is built around historical themes from literature and art history. This Belgian painter bridges the gap with artists such as Caravaggio, Tintoretto, Goya and Manet.

Besides his associative ability, Jan Van Imschoot is able to mix different contexts. Humour is therefore not foreign to his work. With some cynicism, he focuses on phenomena on the margins of contemporary society.
