In 2023, an exhibition on the presence of the American artist Joseph Kosuth in Ghent will open at the VANDENHOVE Centre for Architecture & Art (UGent).
For this exhibition, the curators are looking for copies of the edition Text/Context, which Kosuth realized in 1978 for the Friends of the Museum of Contemporary Art, Ghent.
For this edition, Kosuth cut a copy of a poster he showed in the Koopvaardijlaan in Ghent in that year, between 8 June and 6 July 1978, into 32 pieces. Each copy was signed by the artist and sold in an envelope, together with a text and a photo print of the work in situ.
In order to reconstruct the original 1978 work in the VANDENHOVE exhibition, we are looking for as many copies as possible of the Kosuth edition.
The exhibition is an initiative of the KB45 research group (Art in Belgium after 1945; UGent) and is being put together by Gertjan Oskar, Anton Pereira Rodriguez and Wouter Davidts. The project can also count on the collaboration of Joseph Kosuth and Cornelia Lauf.
