Visual artist-poet Nikolaas Demoen and poet-author Inge Braeckman wrote a duo poem in Dutch without meeting each other beforehand and without choosing a subject. Each poet gave an answer to the verse of the previous poet. Berg-Pas ultimately became a love poem, written in one long breath, and which conceals a subtle humour. The title already carries the reference to the current Covid era.
In his visual and poetic work, Nikolaas Demoen,1965 uses metaphorical images to give a unique view of the individual's relationship with the world. He creates, as it were, a manual for the story of the artist in art history, constantly reflecting on studio practice. Fame, decay, glory and downfall are subjects in his oeuvre. The mask functions as an alter ego.
He published two books of poetry at the PoëzieCentrum in Ghent: Tamelijk, 2015, and Namaak, 2018.
Inge Braeckman, 1974, published 4 books of poetry at the PoëzieCentrum in Ghent: Beeltenissen, 2009, Incantaties 1, 2011, Incantaties 2, 2013, and Venus' Sparks, 2016. In 2018, the S.M.A.K. published her poetry collection Under the Olive Trees of Lesbos. During the first Lockdown, in 2020, Borgerhoff & Lamberigts published, In the First Hours of Summer. This spring Terra Toscana will be published by Uitgeverij P.
