'Traces of Survival' | Drawings by refugees in Iraq

Philippe Van Cauteren, artistic director of S.M.A.K., visited three refugee camps in northern Iraq with Tamara Chalabi of the Ruya Foundation in December 2014. They had the people make drawings. The result is a book published by Mercatorfonds, with the artistic support of Ai Weiwei. He made a selection from the more than 500 drawings made by the refugees.


The book Traces of Survival is published by The Ruya Foundation and Mercatorfonds, with the support of S.M.A.K., the Friends of S.M.A.K., Graphius and Sappo.
